Northern Bog Violet – Lehigh Gorge State Park

During a recent bicycle ride in Lehigh Gorge State Park in Pennsylvania we spotted the seasons first wildflowers sprouting up, the Northern Bog Violet. These tiny little flowers were found right on the side of the trail and near wet areas formed from the spring runoff.

Lehigh Gorge State Park PA – Mossy Glen

This is an area inside Lehigh Gorge State Park, Pennsylvania that I have named “Mossy Glen”. A wonderful secluded spot with moss covered rocks as far as you can see, gentle running water always running around and over them. I visit this spot fairly often.

Tech Specs: Canon 6D and Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens, tripod mounted, 5 and 10 second exposures at ISO 100, f/16 and 17mm. Photographed on April 3, 2017.

Lehigh Gorge State Park, PA.

I would love to see this intermittent waterfall in Lehigh Gorge State Park, Pennsylvania at full flow, it would be awesome! This one is roughly 10-12 feet tall and twice as wide as shown. The next step is to explore the terrace above this one.

Tech Specs: Canon 6D and Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens, tripod mounted, 4 and 10 second exposures at ISO 100, f/16 and 17mm. Photographed on April 3, 2017.

Intermittent Cascade Waterfall in Lehigh Gorge State Park Pennsylvania

Here is another beautiful intermittent waterfall in Lehigh Gorge State Park in Pennsylvania. It can almost be mistaken for a tropical location, don’t you think? Heavily influenced by recent rainfall and snow melt, this is the best I have seen this particular 10-12 foot cascade waterfall in a few years. There are several terraces to this series, you can barely make out the one above it.

Tech Specs: Canon 6D and Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens, tripod mounted, 1.6 and 8 second exposures at ISO 100, f/16 and 17mm. Photographed on April 3, 2017.
